NORDIC TALKS projects launched
Ahead of COP29 in Baku, Kitabistan and Nordic embassies are launching the initiative “NORDIC TALKS: The Nordic Green Model”. This project aims to showcase the experiences of the Nordic countries in transitioning to renewable energy and addressing climate change issues. The project is carried out in collaboration with the embassies of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden and with support from the Nordic Council of Ministers.
As part of the project, a two-day event is scheduled to be held in Baku on September 26-27. On September 26, a conference will be held at the Nizami Cinema Center in Baku, with the participation of climate experts from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden where the green transition models of the Nordic countries will be presented.
On September 27, a panel discussion of four Nordic ambassadors will be organized with the moderation of Kitabistan. Following the discussion, the ambassadors will take questions from the audience. The audience will consist of representatives from relevant Azerbaijani state agencies, civil society, academia and media.
Those interested in attending the conference on September 26 are invited to register free of charge: REGISTRATION
The ambassador panel discussion is exclusively for invitees, but it will be broadcast live on Kitabistan’s social network pages.
Project coordinator and co-founder of Kitabistan, Malak Hajiyeva stated that the Nordic countries are leading the world in the fight against climate change.
“As part of the "Kitabistan Talks" project, we are showcasing the development models of the world in Azerbaijan. Today one of the most pressing global challenges is climate change. Therefore, it is especially significant for us to introduce the "NORDIC TALKS: The Nordic Green Model” project, and we are pleased that it aligns with COP29. Nordic countries are at the top of the international indices related to the green transition. Therefore, we consider it important to present the Nordic green model solutions in Azerbaijan.
We believe that the examples presented in this two-day project, including expert conferences and ambassador panel discussions, will be valuable for our society.” |
On behalf of the participating Nordic embassies, Ambassador of Sweden Tobias Lorentzson highlighted the favorable conditions for a fruitful exchange between the Nordic countries and Azerbaijan in the field of green transformation.
“In the current action plan of the Nordic Council of Ministers, achieving a green Nordic region is one of the main priorities. As part of the current Swedish presidency of the Council, Sweden will continue efforts to make the Nordic region a leader in the green transition, and a globally competitive and socially sustainable region.
In light of COP29 in Baku and Azerbaijan’s efforts towards a green transition, the NORDIC TALKS in Baku provide a timely opportunity for the Nordic region and Azerbaijan to explore common solutions to common challenges. |
